Once upon a time she dressed so fine
You threw her bumps and lines she was in her prime, weren't you?
People'd call, say, "Beware doll, you're bound to get that call"
She thought they were all kiddin' her
She used to laugh about it
Everybody that was rockin' out
Now she don't laugh so loud
Now she don't seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for her next hit.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a phone
Like completey alone
Like rolling an empty note?
A dog without a bone.

You've drunk the finest wine all right, Miss Lonely
But you know you only used to juice with nothing else in it
Nobody has ever taught you how to live out on the street
And now you're gonna have to teach yourself
You said you'd never compromise
Never be a tramp, but now you're not hypnotised
He's not selling you any habits
As you dare to vacuum his stash with your eyes
And say do you want to make a deal?
Think you'll get a steel

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction to your nowhere home
A complete ba bow
Like a floating stone?

You never turned around to see the clowns on the jugglers and the jugglers on the throats
When they all did seceret tricks for you
You never understood that it ain't no good
You shouldn't let other people do your tricks for you
You used to ride in the limo with your siamese cat
Who carried on his shoulder a fur crevat
Ain't it hard when you discover that
He really wasn't a cat
After he peeled from you your exterior anything he could steal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction to your nowhere home
A complete ba bow
Like a floating stone?
